You are not your body. You are not your thoughts. You are consciousness.
YOU ARE AWARENESS.

I think this is the best instrumental I’ve made so far.

Anonymous asked: “you don't have to answer this if you don't want to...but what advice do you have for someone who overthinks all the time?”

Sure! I’ll mention some things that helped me with that.

First thing is proper breath. I know it may sound cliche, or wack, but it’s very true. Breathing influences the locus coeruleus which has inputs in major regions of the brain. These regions govern aspects of consciousness seen in attention, memory, cognitive control, and emotion (to name a few). So, first thing is first: make it a habit to be more aware of your breath, and begin breathing consciously when you feel yourself beginning to fall into mindsets associated with overthinking.

Second is learning not to take the content of your mind so seriously. Attaching less emotional significance to thoughts that pop up will through time teach your brain not to identify with thoughts so strongly. However, some stress is healthy, so learning to find that balance of non-attachment will be another crucial personal challenge.

Lastly, meditation. Meditation has a large number of cognitive benefits, one of which is focus. Overthinking is often a symptom of a mind needing direction. Meditation can help hone those thoughts more optimally, and help ignore the ones that are detrimental to your personal goals.

I hope this helped in some way.

Peace.

me stressin: how am i gonna memorize all these concepts for all these subjects???

other me: you can literally remember everything you will ever see and still have room for more

other other me: good point, me

main me: ya, but which one of us is gonna put in all that effort?

“Perhaps consciousness is not a single, generalized process. Rather, consciousness may be an emergent property, arising out of hundreds or thousands of specialized systems–that is, modules *(Gazzaniga, 2011). These specialized neural circuits enable the processing and mental representation of specific aspects of conscious experience. Many of these modules may be connected to some of the other modules, but not to most of them. And these components compete for attention. For instance, the neural circuits responsible for the itch on your back, the memory of Friday night’s date, the rumblings of your stomach, the feeling of the sun on your cheek, and the paper that you are working on are fighting for attention. From moment to moment, different modules win the competition, and its neural representation is what you are conscious of in that moment.”
